In Lanciano, every year, since 1981, recalls the investiture of Mastrogiurato, magistrate of the Angevin period, established by Charles II, to assist the major in various functions. This figure, historically important to the medieval town, is now remembered with this feast, which, starting from the last week of August, ends with a party in September Lanciano. During the investiture ceremony of Mastrogiurato, a parade will procede along the main street of the city, to the Piazza Plebiscito, under the town hall, with damsels and knights, followed by flag-wavers, and other figures in medieval clothes. At the end of the parade there is the investiture of Mastrogiurato, which is chosen among people who gave luster to the city or to the entire area.
